Where Light Takes Shape in the Depths
Darkest Deep seeks short but thought-provoking literary works—pieces that evoke a sense of being emerging from non-being, light breaking from darkness, and form taking shape in the void.
All genres welcome, with a preference for writing that lingers in the mind long after the last word has been read.
Writers looking to push the boundaries of brevity and resonance should certainly submit.
Submission Guidelines
- Word Limit: 1,500 words max.
- Accepted Forms: Fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and experimental prose.
- Themes & Aesthetic: No set themes at this time.
- Additional Notes: We accept previously published work.
Compensation & Rights
- Payment: None at this time.
- Rights: We ask for First Publication Rights; all rights revert to the author after publication.
How to Submit
- Email submissions to darkestdeep81@gmail.com with the subject line: Submission – [Your Name] – [Title of Work].
- Send your submission as a Google Doc link, an attached MS Word Document, or in the body of your email. The objective is for your work to be cut-and-paste ready.
- Include a 50-word bio and your Instagram handle. Stories will be published on Instagram, and we’d like to tag you.
- Expect a response within one month.
Special Considerations
- We actively seek new and emerging voices.
- We also accept artwork and photography (separate call for artists—check our Instagram for details).
Deadline & Publication Schedule
- Submission Window: April 9, 2025 – May 15, 2025
- Publication: Accepted pieces will be published on a rolling basis, with announcements upon acceptance.
